ST. LUCIA AIRPORTS
About St. Lucia Airports - (George F.L. Charles Airport) (SLU) & St Lucia (Hewanorra Intl. Airport) (UVF).
St. Lucia is served by two airports. The larger of the two is Hewanorra International Airport, while the smaller is George F.L. Charles Airport. Located on opposite sides of the island, St. Lucia Taxi Cab is proud to provide service to travelers coming to and leaving via both airports. All travelers coming in to either of St. Lucia’s airports will be required to pay a fee of $35 USD per ticket as an airport development charge.
Important St. Lucia Airport Security Information
Due to security laws, the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, recommends that all travelers arrive at the airport at least two hours before the flight is scheduled to depart. This allows time for baggage and passenger screening as well as for random personal searches. It is important to always ensure that you have both your passport and your boarding pass on you while at the airport. If you paid for your ticket online or through electronic means, always bring your printed confirmation page with you to the airport. If you require an escort to help you get through the airport or if you are escorting someone who is elderly, disabled, or who requires special help, make sure that you have all of the required paperwork before arriving at the airport. Last, to help speed the screening process, try to avoid wearing objects made of metal and be prepared to put your cell phone, keys, and anything else from your pockets into the bit located at each security checkpoint in the airport. Avoid bringing sharp items such as nail clippers or razors onto the plane and be aware that you may only have one carry-on bag and one personal item (purse, laptop, etc). It is recommended that you visit the TSA website at www.tsa.gov/public/index.jsp to learn what may and may not be brought aboard the plane.
Last, if you purchase gifts while visiting St. Lucia, it is recommended that you wait until arriving back in your home country to wrap them, as all wrapped items are subject to unwrapping during security searches.

Hewanorra International Airport
The larger of the two airports located on the island, Hewanorra International Airport handles all traffic to the island from other countries. The airport code for Hewanorra is UVF. It is located on the southern portion of the island in Vieux Fort and is only about an hour and a half from Castries. Hewanorra International Airport is served by numerous airlines, including Jet Blue, Virgin, Delta, American Airlines, and more.
There are four cities in the United States that provide direct flights to St. Lucia. These cities are New York, Atlanta, Miami, and Newark. Montral and Toronto offer direct flights from Canada, while London and Manchester offer direct flights for UK travelers. In all, there are more flights to St. Lucia than most other Caribbean islands for European travelers.
A passport is required for US travelers coming in through Hewanorra International Airport. Travel from all countries outside of the Caribbean requires a valid passport, and if you are not from a country with an agreement with St. Lucia, you will also be required to obtain a St. Lucian visa.

George F.L. Charles Airport
Named after Sir George Frederick Lawrence, a famed St. Lucian politician, the smaller of the two St. Lucia airports is located in Castries and serves flights coming in from other parts of the Caribbean. George F.L. Charles Airport has the code SLU and is only a short drive from Soufriere and only a few minutes from Sandals Halcyon and Regency as well as Marigot Bay and Rendezvous resorts. While this is certainly the smaller of the island’s two airports, it serves about 32,000 flights every year.
